Icelad – ice country
Ski tour Iceland: The volcanic island in the northern Atlantic is sparsely populated and offers endless expanses. In the north of the island, around the Eyjafjord on the so-called Troll Peninsula, there is a ski tour area of the extra class. Two contrasts unite here that make the high north so special for ski tourers. Snow-covered and glaciated mountains, with open, treeless ski slopes directly above the sea. The location in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean and just below the Arctic Circle offers guaranteed snow well into spring. At the latest when one makes the last curves of the day with the smell of the sea in one’s nose, one has succumbed to the fascination of Iceland. After the return from the ski tours, a typical Icelandic Hot Pot (Jacuzzi) awaits us in our comfortable accommodation, from which we can observe the shimmering northern lights in cloudless nights. Besides the ski tours, sightseeing should not be neglected. We visit some of Iceland’s natural monuments: Steaming solfatars, lava, glaciers and geysers.
