Ski tours in the Defereggen valley
The Defereggen valley is one of the most pristine valleys in the Austrian Alps. Steep mountain meadows and lonely mountain farms up to an altitude of 1,800m make the Defereggen valley a gem of peace and quiet in the middle of the Hohe Tauern National Park. Rieserferner group, Lasörlinggruppe and the Panargenkamm are names that are often only known to the locals and that is exactly why the ski tours in Defereggen valley are not overcrowded until today. Kauschkahorn (2.903m), Langschneide (2.688m) and Almerhorn (2.985m) are some of the numerous ski tours in the valley. The average ascents of the ski tours are between 750hm and 1.200hm from easy to medium. The valley can only be reached from East Tyrol in winter. The road over South Tyrol and the Antholz Valley remains closed in winter.
