Sesto Sundial

The Sesto sundial is the largest natural sundial in the world and the ‘clock’ of Sesto. Seen from the village, the sun is positioned quite exactly above the mountain of the same name at the respective time. In total, the sundial consists of six peaks, which are also the main peaks of the Sexten/Sesto mountains. The 6-mountain chaining offers an experience in a class of its own and is (as far as normal routes are concerned) probably the most spectacular chaining in the Dolomites. All in all, the tour is very demanding in terms of fitness and especially something for guests with good basic alpine experience.

1st day: Ascent from the passo Monte Croce to the Croda sora i Colesei, ascent of the Cima Colesei and the Pala di Popera (in German peak nine), overnight stay at the Berti hut.

2nd day: Ascent of Croda Rossa (in German peak ten) via the via ferrata Zandonella. Continue along the Strada degli Alpini to the Comici hut.

3rd day: Ascent to Cima Undici (in German peak eleven). Return and overnight stay at the Comici hut.

4th day: Ascent to the Croda dei Toni (in German peak twelve). Return and overnight stay at the Comici hut.

5th day: Ascent to the Cima Una (in German peak one). Descent to the valley.

The tour can also be done in 2 or 3 days by climbers with a very good physical and technical preparation. However, the tour can only be done with one guest per mountain guide.
